Nola Graham first learned about Don Julio Barreda from the book called “Animal Breeding and Production of American Camelids” by Rigoberto Calle Escobar, being what Nola thought was a llama book. She wanted to learn everything she could about these beautiful creatures. When she joined the Inland Empire Llama Association in 1985 she somehow found this book published in 1984. She had searched the library and found very little on the llamas but says “The Universe led me to this book”. While reading it she discovered the camelid family was quite large and what she thought was a llama was actually a guanaco, her first purchase! In 1986, she attended several local meetings and soon went to her first llama show and sale called the Gold Rush Sale, where she purchased her first llamas and had a small herd of 15.
Alpacas have been the focus of Nola Graham’s life for nearly twenty years and the influence she has had on the industry is truly astonishing. Raising alpacas continues to be a rewarding and fulfilling experience and NGG would like to invite you to experience the dream of owning some of the finest livestock in the world.
